Journey overview

Journey to Uganda’s remote northeastern wilderness—open valleys, rare species, and some of East Africa’s most dramatic dry-country scenery.

Gorilla permits lead the calendar. June–September and December–February are the more reliable trekking windows.

This is a starting point. We refine lodges, flying days and pacing around who is travelling, the season and how you like to spend a safari afternoon.

This route focuses on Kidepo Valley. We adjust lodge choice, flight legs and the number of nights in each area to match your season and travel style.

Planning notes

Travel style: Frontier wilderness. Charter or long-drive logistics.

Activities on this journey

  • Gorilla trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga
  • Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
  • Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel
  • Game drives in Murchison Falls
  • Community and craft experiences en route

How to get there

Entebbe is the main international gateway. Internal flights or scenic road transfers link primate forests, savannah parks and lakeside stops.

Climate

Uganda’s equatorial climate stays green for much of the year. Days are warm; forest treks can feel humid. Two rainy seasons — March to May and October to November — require sturdy footwear and flexible scheduling.

Best time to visit

June to September and December to February are the most reliable trekking windows. We secure permits early and build recovery nights around forest days.
