Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks for gorilla trekking; Kibale for chimpanzees; Queen Elizabeth for savannah, Ishasha tree lions and Kazinga boat safari; Murchison Falls for Nile drama and northern-bank game drives; Lake Mburo for zebra plains close to the road south; Kidepo Valley for frontier wilderness; Semuliki and Rwenzori for specialised forest and alpine days.

We choose areas according to wildlife movement, road or flight logistics, lodge availability and the atmosphere each traveller wants — private conservancies where they add night drives and space, public parks where they earn their place.
