At Shishi Footsteps, we believe travel should feel personal, beautifully planned and memorable from the very first conversation.

We curate and arrange African travel experiences including safari, beach escapes, golf, culture, adventure, wellness, medical travel and tailor-made holidays.

These Terms & Conditions explain how our travel arrangements work, what you can expect from us and what we ask of you when you book with Shishi Footsteps.

By confirming a booking with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Your Travel Arrangement

Shishi Footsteps may arrange a combination of travel services for you, including:

Some of these services are delivered by independent suppliers. Their own operating requirements and booking conditions may also apply to the individual service.

Where a supplier's conditions affect your booking, we will communicate the relevant information to you.

2. Your Travel Proposal

Your first enquiry or personalised proposal is not a confirmed booking.

Once you submit your travel request, our team may contact you to understand your preferences, refine the itinerary, check availability, and create a proposal around you.

The proposal will outline the services, accommodation, activities, travel dates and price being offered.

How long is my quotation valid?

A personalised Shishi Footsteps quotation is valid for 21 days from the date it is issued, unless a different validity period is specifically stated in the quotation.

Travel prices and availability can change during this period, particularly where suppliers have limited inventory.

If you make changes to your proposed itinerary before booking, we may need to re-price the trip.

The 21-day quotation validity reflects the commercial timeline used by the reference terms.

3. When Does My Booking Become Confirmed?

Your travel arrangements become confirmed once:

Until this point, accommodation, flights, activities and other services remain subject to availability.

A proposal or quotation therefore does not guarantee that the quoted arrangements will remain available until payment is received.

4. Prices & What Is Included

Our quotations will clearly indicate the services included in your proposed itinerary.

Depending on your trip, these may include accommodation, meals, park or conservation fees, transfers, activities, guides, golf arrangements and other services.

Unless specifically stated, the following are generally not included:

Your final quotation will be the best reference for exactly what is included in your trip.

Website prices, where displayed, are intended as a guide. The final price is confirmed through your personalised quotation.

5. Changes in Price

Travel costs can change between when an itinerary is prepared and when you travel.

Changes may result from:

Your itinerary price is based on the costs known at the time the quotation or booking is prepared.

Where applicable, Shishi Footsteps reserves the right to pass on significant increases in mandatory travel costs up to 20 days before departure.

If a surcharge increases the total confirmed travel price by more than 10%, you may have the right to cancel the affected package and receive a refund of amounts paid, subject to applicable law and the specific circumstances of the booking.

Government-regulated fees, including park and conservation charges, may sometimes change without advance notice. Where this occurs, the applicable increase may be passed on to the traveller.

The 20-day and 10% thresholds reflect the commercial framework in the reference terms.

6. Deposits & Payment

Once you accept your final proposal, we will issue an invoice with the applicable payment schedule.

Standard bookings

A 50% deposit of the total itinerary value is required within 10 days of the invoice being issued.

Your booking is not guaranteed until the required payment has been received and the booking has been confirmed in writing.

Final balance

The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 61 days before departure.

This is important because many accommodation providers, airlines, camps and other suppliers require payment well in advance to secure reservations.

International flights

Where international flights are booked through Shishi Footsteps, full payment may be required within the airline's specified ticketing deadline.

Last-minute bookings

Where a booking is made within 61 days of departure, the full travel amount must be paid within 2 days of the invoice being issued, unless a different payment arrangement has been agreed in writing.

These payment timelines mirror the reference commercial structure.

7. What Happens When You Cancel?

We understand that plans sometimes change.

If you need to cancel your trip, please notify Shishi Footsteps in writing as soon as possible.

Cancellation charges are based on the following schedule:

61+ days before departure

The deposit is non-refundable.

0–61 days before departure

100% of the itinerary cost is payable as a cancellation charge.

Some individual suppliers may have additional or different cancellation conditions, which will be communicated where applicable.

The cancellation structure above follows the commercial cancellation schedule in the reference terms.

8. Changing Your Trip

We understand that sometimes you may want to make your African escape even better after booking.

Requests to change travel dates, accommodation, activities, flights, destinations or the number of travellers are subject to availability and supplier conditions.

Any additional supplier charges will be passed on to you, our client.

8.1 Booking corrections

Please check your booking confirmation carefully.

Any genuine errors in your booking details should be brought to our attention within 10 days of receiving your confirmation.

Changes after this period may attract an administration fee of USD 120 per request, in addition to any costs charged by suppliers.

8.2 Changes more than 61 days before departure

Where your departure is more than 61 days away, you may request changes to your confirmed itinerary.

An administration fee of USD 140 per request may apply, in addition to any supplier or fare differences.

Postponing your trip

Where permitted by the suppliers involved, you may request to move your trip to a later date within the following 12 months.

A USD 185 administration fee will apply, together with any additional supplier costs or price differences.

Availability for the new dates cannot be guaranteed.

8.3 Changes within 61 days of departure

Once you are within 61 days of departure, changes to a confirmed itinerary may no longer be possible.

Where a change is requested and cannot be accommodated, it may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and the applicable cancellation charges will apply.

This reflects the reference terms' 61-day modification boundary.

8.4 Replacing a traveller

A traveller may request to be replaced by another person up to 7 calendar days before departure, provided:

A USD 230 administration fee per replaced traveller will apply, in addition to any airline, accommodation or supplier charges.

Replacement requests made less than 7 days before departure may be treated as a cancellation of the original traveller.

The 7-day deadline and USD 185 administration fee are based on the reference terms.

9. What If We Change Your Trip?

We work hard to deliver your itinerary as confirmed.

However, travel sometimes comes with circumstances beyond anyone's control.

These may include:

If a change becomes necessary, we will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative that maintains the quality and character of your trip.

Where a significant change materially affects your confirmed arrangements, we will communicate the available options to you.

10. Safari & Wildlife

A safari is an experience in the wild.

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and animal movements cannot be predicted.

The timing and location of wildlife encounters are influenced by nature, weather, seasonal conditions and animal behaviour.

For your safety, you must follow the instructions of your guide, driver, camp, lodge and relevant park authorities.

11. Accommodation

Accommodation is subject to availability at the time of booking.

The photographs, descriptions and facilities presented on our website are intended to give you an indication of the experience.

Properties may occasionally change their facilities, services, room configurations or operating arrangements.

If a confirmed property becomes unavailable, we will make reasonable efforts to secure a suitable alternative.

Where an alternative materially differs from your confirmed arrangement, we will communicate this to you.

12. Flights & Transport

Flights and transport services may be provided by independent airlines, charter operators or transport companies.

Flight times, aircraft, routes, baggage allowances and schedules are determined by the relevant carrier.

Airlines may change schedules or cancel flights for operational, weather, safety or other reasons.

Where a change occurs, we will assist in finding the best practical solution available.

Any additional costs arising from a carrier's change will be handled in accordance with the applicable airline or supplier terms.

13. Golf Travel

Golf is one of the experiences that makes Shishi Footsteps different.

Golf arrangements may include:

Golf clubs may have their own requirements relating to:

These requirements must be followed by the traveller.

Tee times remain subject to availability unless specifically confirmed.

14. Wellness & Medical Travel

Shishi Footsteps may arrange travel logistics connected with medical or wellness services.

We are not a medical provider.

Shishi Footsteps does not diagnose, prescribe, treat, or provide medical advice.

Medical services are provided by independent healthcare professionals and facilities.

Any decision concerning treatment, medical suitability, procedures, risks or expected outcomes must be made between you and the relevant healthcare provider.

Our role may include arranging:

Where medical or health information is required to coordinate your arrangements, it will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.

15. Accessibility & Special Requirements

We welcome travellers with different mobility and accessibility needs.

If you or anyone travelling with you has an accessibility, mobility, dietary or medical requirement that could affect the trip, please tell us before confirming your booking.

This allows us to assess accommodation, transport, activities and other arrangements properly.

We will do our best to identify suitable options, but accessibility varies considerably between properties, vehicles, parks and activities.

A particular requirement should therefore be considered confirmed only when Shishi Footsteps has confirmed it in writing.

16. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for every traveller.

Your policy should ideally cover:

Travellers undertaking adventure, golf, medical or other specialised activities should ensure their policy covers those activities and circumstances.

17. Passports, Visas & Travel Documents

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the correct documentation for your trip.

This may include:

Entry requirements vary between countries and can change.

We may provide general guidance, but you remain responsible for ensuring that your documents meet the requirements applicable to your travel.

18. Children

If children are travelling with you, please provide their ages when making your enquiry.

Some accommodation providers, activities, safari camps and destinations have age restrictions.

We will advise you of relevant requirements as part of the planning process.

19. Group Travel

Some Shishi Footsteps group trips may operate subject to a minimum number of participants.

Where a minimum number applies, this will be stated in the relevant travel offer.

A group booking may remain provisional until the required number of participants is reached.

Shishi Footsteps will confirm whether the group departure will proceed no later than 20 days before departure.

If the minimum number is not reached and the departure is cancelled, we will offer an appropriate alternative where possible or refund amounts paid for the affected group arrangement, subject to the applicable booking terms.

Participants are expected to follow the shared itinerary, respect other travellers, and follow the instructions of guides and drivers.

The 20-day confirmation/cancellation timeline is based on the reference group-tour terms.

20. Responsible Travel

We believe Africa should be experienced with respect.

We encourage our travellers to:

We may recommend properties, activities and partners based partly on their approach to responsible tourism.

21. Travel Risks

Travel in Africa can involve experiences and environments that are different from those travellers may be accustomed to at home.

These may include:

You agree to take reasonable care of your own safety and follow instructions provided by Shishi Footsteps and our suppliers.

22. Events Beyond Our Control

Sometimes circumstances arise that cannot reasonably be predicted or prevented.

These may include:

Where such an event affects your trip, we will work with you and our suppliers to identify the best available solution.

23. Complaints & Problems During Your Trip

If something isn't right while you are travelling, please tell us as soon as possible.

Where appropriate, you should first alert the relevant service provider, such as the lodge manager, hotel, guide or activity operator, so that they have an opportunity to resolve the issue immediately.

Our team will assist where possible.

If an issue cannot be resolved during the trip, please provide Shishi Footsteps with the details in writing within 28 days of returning home.

This gives us a fair opportunity to investigate the matter with the relevant supplier and take appropriate action.

The 28-day reporting period follows the reference terms.

24. Your Responsibilities

When you book with us, you agree to:

The lead traveller or person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that all members of their travelling party are aware of these Terms & Conditions.

25. Services Provided by Third Parties

Some parts of your trip are delivered by independent suppliers.

These may include airlines, hotels, lodges, golf clubs, medical providers, transport companies, activity operators and other service providers.

Those suppliers may have their own terms, safety requirements and operating procedures.

Where a service is provided directly by an independent supplier, their applicable conditions will also apply.

26. Limitation of Liability

Shishi Footsteps will use reasonable care and skill in arranging the services included in your confirmed itinerary.

However, we cannot accept responsibility for circumstances that are outside our reasonable control or for losses caused by:

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

Any liability limitation must be interpreted subject to the mandatory protections available to consumers under applicable law.

This section should be reviewed and approved by Shishi Footsteps' Kenyan legal adviser before publication, particularly the specific monetary liability cap, if Shishi wishes to include one.

27. Website Information

We make every effort to ensure that the information on the Shishi Footsteps website is accurate.

However, travel information can change.

Accommodation facilities, prices, routes, park regulations, airline schedules and other services may change from time to time.

Website information should therefore be treated as general guidance unless the service has been specifically confirmed in your booking.

28. Intellectual Property

They may not be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed or commercially used without our prior written permission.

We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information.

30. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time as our services, business practices or legal obligations change.

The latest version will be published on our website with the date of the most recent update.

Where you have already made a booking, the Terms & Conditions applicable to your booking will be those provided or made available at the time of confirmation, subject to applicable law.

31. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Kenya, unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.

Any dispute arising from these Terms & Conditions or a booking with Shishi Footsteps shall be handled in accordance with applicable Kenyan law and the appropriate dispute-resolution process.

32. Contract & Acceptance

Your booking confirmation, together with the applicable quotation, itinerary, payment schedule and these Terms & Conditions, forms the basis of your travel agreement with Shishi Footsteps.

By making a booking, the lead traveller confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions on behalf of themselves and, where applicable, the members of their travelling party.

33. Translations

These Terms & Conditions are originally written in English.

Where they are translated into another language, the English version will be used as the reference version where there is a difference in interpretation, subject to applicable law.

Let's Travel Well.

We want your experience with Shishi Footsteps to be memorable from the first conversation to the final farewell.

If you have questions about these Terms & Conditions or your booking, our team is here to help.
