Mnemba Atoll Snorkel Trip

Mnemba Island Marine Conservation Area, Tanzania

About this experience

Off Zanzibar’s north-east coast, the reefs around Mnemba Atoll are protected as a marine conservation area. Boat trips from Matemwe or Nungwi stop at shallow coral gardens where snorkellers can see reef fish, starfish and, with luck, turtles.

Dolphins are sometimes seen on the way. Mnemba Island itself is private, so trips stay in the surrounding waters.

Highlights

  • Protected coral reefs
  • Turtle and dolphin opportunities
  • Clear, warm water

Good to know
