Batwa Community Forest Experience

Mgahinga & Bwindi area, Uganda

About this experience

The Batwa are forest people who lived in the Bwindi and Mgahinga forests for generations before the parks were established. Community-led experiences, guided by Batwa hosts, share their knowledge of the forest, including gathering food, medicinal plants, hunting skills and music.

The experience is designed with Batwa communities, and revenue supports them directly. It is a respectful way to learn about their history and ongoing challenges.
