Deadvlei Photography Walk

Deadvlei, Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia

About this experience

Deadvlei is a white clay pan surrounded by some of the world’s tallest dunes. Its blackened camel thorn trees, which died long ago when the water that sustained them dried up, are believed to be many centuries old.

A guided walk across the sand to the pan in soft early light gives photographers striking contrasts of white clay, black trees, red dunes and blue sky.

Highlights

  • Centuries-old dead camel thorn trees
  • Striking colour contrasts
  • Early-light photography
