About this experience

The Fish River Canyon hiking trail is one of southern Africa’s great multi-day treks. Over several days, hikers descend into the canyon and follow the river from Hobas to Ai-Ais, crossing sand, boulders and river pools, and camping wild each night.

The trail is only open in the cooler months and has strict requirements, including a permit and a medical fitness certificate. It demands self-sufficiency and good fitness.
