Dian Fossey Tomb Hike

Karisoke, Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

About this experience

Primatologist Dian Fossey spent nearly two decades studying mountain gorillas from the Karisoke Research Center, high between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke. A guided hike climbs through farmland and forest to the site of her camp and her grave, beside the gorilla cemetery she created.

It is a moving walk for anyone interested in gorilla conservation history, and forest wildlife is often seen along the way.
