Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Trek

Kyambura Gorge, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

About this experience

Kyambura Gorge is a sunken river forest cutting through the open savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park. A ranger leads you down into the gorge to search for a small resident chimpanzee community.

Sightings are less predictable than in Kibale, but the setting is extraordinary: dense forest, a rushing river and hippos in the pools below, all hidden within the savannah.

Highlights

  • Sunken forest within the savannah
  • Chimpanzee tracking opportunities
  • Riverine birds and monkeys
