About this experience

The forested Mahale Mountains rise straight from the clear waters of Lake Tanganyika and shelter one of Africa’s largest habituated chimpanzee communities. Treks begin on foot from lakeside camps and climb into the forest as trackers locate the chimps.

Between treks, there is time to swim, kayak or take a dhow out on the lake. It is one of the most remote and rewarding primate experiences in East Africa.
